The above Lists were returned to us at this Meeting (except those for the Tything of Pulham in the Liberty of Bindon, the tything's of Herringstone Cripton and Farringdon and Little Mayne in the Hundred of Cullingfordtree, the tything of Froom Whitfield in the Hundred of George and the tything of Tolpuddle in the Hundred of Puddlestone) against which defaultants We order that Summons be issued forth and that the same be made returnable at the 'Antelope' in Dorchester aforesaid on Friday the twenty second day of March Instant to which time and place we adjourn this Meeting Witness our Hands Thomas GOULD : John MEECH : Warren LISLE ----(Image 32) |
At a Meeting of His Majesty's Deputy Lieutenants of the said County of Dorset and Justices of the Peace of the same County held at the house known by the sign 'Antelope' in Dorchester in the said County for the Subdivision of Dorchester on Friday twenty second day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five for carrying into further execution the Acts of Parliament lately made for the better ordering of the Militia Forces in the several Counties of that part of Great Britain called England. The following is an account of several Lists returned by the Constables and Tythingmen of several Parishes Tything's and Places following that were not returned at the last meeting held in and for this Subdivision which lists were verified on oaths Bindon Liberty -- Pulham -- fined 40: Cullifordtree Hundred -- Herringstone Cripton and Farringdon 3 Cullifordtree Hundred -- Little Mayne -- fined 40 George Hundred -- Froom Whitfield [Blank] Puddletowne Hundred -- Tolpuddle 11 Pursuant to summons issued from the last Meeting for this SubDivision, and now returnable against the Tythingmen of several tything's before mentioned It appears unto us that the lists for the tything of Herrinstone Cripton and Farringdon and Tolpuddle having since the last meeting been amended agreeable to the order then given them by the Deputy Lieutenants and Justices assembled are on the Tythingmen's now returned to us And WHEREAS it also appears that the tythingmen Pulham had not received due notice from the chief constable of the Liberty of Binden to return the list for the said tything and the tythingmen of Little Mayne are fined in the sum of 40 shillings each for such their neglect and being both personally present and admitting of the above facts alleged against them they respectively paid into the hands of Mr John WALLIS a Clerk of this SubDivision the said fines And the tythingman of Froom Whitfield he also alleged that he did not receive due notice for the return of the list for his tything from the Chief Constables of the Hundred of St George and the Chief Constables not attending now to make due return of the summons issued and directed to them from the said last meeting against the said tything is also fined 40 shillings. It is therefore ordered that a summons be issued against the said Constables for such offence and neglect. |

We thinking it convenient and necessary to add together the lists of several Parishes, Tythings and Places contained in their respective Districts into the said Sub Division in the same manner as at the last Ballot in and for this SubDivision AND it appearing unto us that the several persons who are hereunder mentioned have been legally discharged from the Dorchester Regiment for just cause or are entitled their discharge from serving as Militia Men in the said Regiment by their term of three years service having expired therefore pursuant to the power vested in us by Law We do hereby confirm the discharges of all and every the men from serving in the said Militia and instead of the men legally discharged and of those who have occasioned vacancies by Death or otherwise since the last Ballot belonging to this Subdivision have this day chosen by Lott the several persons likewise hereafter specified to supply such vacancies according to the number of vacancies in each district
